According to Keith over at allkindsofeverything it looks like RTE have decided to select an artist internally rather than the multi artist selection that was used in 2008!
The rumour is that there will not be an open call for songs as was the case in 2006 and 2007.
'The choice of performer is likely to generate a huge amount of interest in the Irish entry in Moscow, as the name that is currently being rumoured as the choice of RTÉ is a well established singer and songwriter with high recognition around Europe and is certainly not unknown to Eurovision fans'

Well Johnny Logan (Legend!) has said on many previous occasions that he would not return as the voting mechanism would not favour him, that has now changed with the 50/50 split so a return for our 3 times winner might be on the cards, wouldn't that be just fantastic!
