It's raining men in Prague!

SchlagerQueen is preparing to visit Prague next week for a few days and with news yesterday that the Czech Republic will take part in Moscow 2009 it got me thinking as to what artist could improve on their dire record so far in the contest?(10 points in 2 years, yikes!)

Anywho, I came across Helena Vondráčková who is an artist whose career has spanned five decades. She was the 1977 winner of the Sopot International song festival which has seen Ruslana, Kate Ryan, Elton John and Kim Wilde as previous winners and in 2007 part in the Polish version of Dancing with the Stars (just like Isis!)

So, I reckon Eurovision should be next on Ms. Vondráčková's agenda. Check out her singing a Czech version of 'It's Raining Men' and let me know what you think.

(Try not to let the odd dancing of the audience members put you off!)

Euro Pride- BWO Bells of Freedom

Stockholm is the epicentre of the gay world this week as it hosts Europride 2008.
BWO belt out the official song this year and its a stomper. Tomorrow is schlager pride and rumour has it that two well known Eurovision stars are set to appear (Charlotte/Kate Ryan anyone?).
Along with performances by September, BWO and Alcazar at various events it promises to be schlagertastic week! I am not at all jealous that I can't be there...(cries and begins to sing 'Empty Room'!)

Netherlands direkt til finale!

One of my favourite countries in Eurovsision The Netherlands has unveiled plans for their selection process for 2009. Dutch TV NOS selected 50 artists and bands which were divided into 5 groups of 10 acts. Every week, fans can vote for their favourites. Out of every group, 5 acts will proceed to the final.

The line up is looking particularly strong so far with acts including Bearforce 1,Anouk, Gerard Joling, Glennis Grace (Netherlands 2005) and camp as knickers Chipz! Another group are a trio called Big, Black and Beautiful(be careful when googling that one!) They remind of Afro Dite (any chance of reforming for MF next year?) Check out their performance of Success here complete with feathers! Maybe a little styling och consulting needed with the outfits though if they haed off to Moscow! Anyway whoever wins It is about time The Netherlands had a place in the final after Edsilia and Hind were both denied a qualification place.

Myspace selection for Ireland?

Rumours have circulated that Ireland along with other countries such as Germany and Norway may use Spain's myspace idea for selecting a song for Eurovision 2009. In theory this could be a good idea but in practice looking at the problems that plagued the Spanish selection this year I don't think it is a good idea. Mr Chiki Chiki had a very suspicious romp to victory and this was to the peril of other fantastic entries. What do you think?

The Revelations - If i called you on the Telephone

The Revelations New Album!!

SchlagerQueen has just purchased the wonderful self titled new album from the amazing trio that is The Revelations.
My love for 'It's You' from Eurovision Your Decision is well known to readers of this blog but to add to my delight Annika, Sarah and Louise have given us some real gems including the infectious 'If I called you on the telephone', 'Your the loser' (which makes you wanna dance on the table!), 'Baby I want you to know' and 'Fall to pieces'.
Unlike many albums I have recently bought where I was expecting greatness and only found a few tracks that hit the spot this one ticks all the boxes. Their music makes you feel alive, happy and indulgent. I would love them to return to Eurovision again in the future but for the moment I'm happy to have this album on repeat! I hope for great things for these girls. Enjoy!

Doesn't this picture break your heart?

How cute is Kathreya? Her life is so far removed from the vindictive bitching that goes on in the house. She is so funny and so kind to everyone. I can't wait to see nasty Jen evicted on Friday and hopefully she will soon be followed by chav Bex and that snake Luke. I'm loving this series of BB. The producers provided us with such a clash of personalities that it makes great T.V.! I wonder when we will get a new housemate?
